An Epic Weekend in Las Vegas
Ah, Vegas! It’s been far too long! Ten years too long, to be exact.
Looking back on this weekend, I think I may need a year of recovery before heading back to this intense and wild town. I’ve never done more in 4 days causing me to stay up far too late, sleep in like I’m a kid again, indulge in magnificent food, drink more than I would like to admit, and reconnected with amazing people.
The weekend felt like a dream. I was spoiled beyond imagination and I have two very amazing people to thank! One who happened to be celebrating a monumental birthday (our purpose for this trip) and the other who planned this event to perfection. She’s got some serious talent, I tell ya!
The photos to follow are just a small portion of the weekend. I found myself wrapped up in each moment, that I forgot to capture all that we did. I hope you enjoy!
I’m pretty sure I have the best husband in the world! He decided to fly us out first class, with a beautiful suite at the Bellagio! I’m seriously a lucky lady! Though the flight was only an hour long, it was the best flight ever! Serve me champagne and I’m a happy girl!
Can I just stay here for ever? Just look at this place!!! I used to come to Vegas quite often when I live in Utah. I would wander past the relatively newly-built hotel, with it’s enchanting fountains, and dream of what it must be like to stay there. I know this sounds totally ridiculous, but I was dirt broke at the time. A line cook, straight out of college doesn’t make that much, trust me. So staying in a luxurious hotel seemed rather impossible. I had to pinch myself that I was actually getting to stay here.
I wonder how many hours went in to making the very famous Bellagio ceiling? Or how many were broken in the process of getting them up there?

I think I can fit my entire 1 bedroom apartment in this bathroom! Swoon!
I’m not sure if it was due to starvation, after a full day anxiety and travel, but these quesadillas were the best I’ve ever had!
I regret not taking time to sit by the pool! I have so many books waiting to be read.

Lunch at the Petrossian Bar in the Bellagio Hotel, where we had Pheasant Pate and Foie Gras Terrine
After the Petrossian Bar we wandered over to the Cosmopolitan Hotel where we discovered a seriously chic, gem-filled bar, called the Chandelier. Can we talk about how breathtaking this place is?
At the bar, our bartender Abel, introduced us to the most unique drink I’ve ever had in my life. The Verbena, is combines the bright flavors of sweet lemon, verbena and ginger. They pair it with the “Szechuan button“. A small flower like bud that causes an explosion in your mouth, which intensifies the flavors of the drink. It’s pretty wild! This drink is one of the most ordered drinks on their menu and I can see why.
The Epic Birthday Dinner
This was the night we had all been waiting for – the big celebration. 24 of us laughed, told stories, drank stellar wines and ate a 5 course meal at the Picasso Restaurant, in the Bellagio hotel. Before retreating indoors, due to rain (what are the odds), we had direct view of the magnificent Bellagio fountains out on their terrace. Against our luck again, they just happened to be off that evening for a movie filming, so we were only able to enjoy them for a brief moment. Word has it that Brad Pitt was part of the movie… so what would the chances be that another Oceans movie is in the works????
The evening didn’t end there! The crew headed to The Bank, where we were treated to VIP bottle service all night long! Talk about being spoiled by our lovely hosts. I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be the other way around!!! But anyone who knows this person knows that they are one of the coolest, most generous people around!
I’m not even quite sure what time we managed to crawl out of bed after a night full of celebrating and dancing. Somehow we pulled ourselves together, headed back out into the daylight and over to the Paris Hotel for Mimosas. I know what you are thinking and yes, I will deal with my liver later! A major detox is in the works.
The final event of the weekend was the wildly creative Cirque du Soleil show, The Beatles “LOVE”. A dizzying display of color, lights, flowers, mimes, of course Volkswagen Beatle cars, breathtaking circus acts, precise movement and so much more. At one point drew a huge white cloth from the center of the stage and dragged it up and over the audience, then proceeded to animate colorful designs all over it’s surface. Unreal! The show is definitely worth seeing, if you haven’t already!
Day 4 – Final Day
I couldn’t believe the weekend had flown by so quickly. I had so much I still wanted to do! Luckily, unless something tragic happens, Vegas isn’t going anywhere, so next time will have to wait for all the other things I didn’t manage to squeeze into a short 4 day weekend.
We finished off the day with a quick appetizer at Todd English’s Olives Restaurant in the Bellagio, then found ourselves up in North Vegas with a few of our friends, where I think I may have gotten mistaken for a celebrity… or maybe it was my devilishly handsome guy-friend who seriously should be a celebrity. None-the-less, two girls came rushing up to us and begged for a photo. Oddest moment in history that will keep me forever guessing.
Our favorite find up in North Vegas – The Park on Fremont. Great Moscow Mules and the most ADORABLE back patio ever! It did have an odd smell to the back patio, that I’m hoping was only temporary, because I don’t see how they could possibly stay in business if it was a constant annoyance.
Wow. That was our weekend! One that I will forever remember as EPIC!
Adam and I barely managed to make it to our plane that evening. When we arrived home, exhausted and in need of some serious snuggle time from the pups, we stupidly locked our keys in the trunk. In the rush to load all of the dog stuff into the car and go home to bed, we somehow placed the keys in the trunk and shut the door. Let’s just say that was a very long night…
