Blood orange season is quickly coming to an end, but there’s still time to mix up one of these delicious Blood Orange Moscow Mules. You will find me relaxing with friends and family on the patio, with this drink in hand right about now, soaking up any little bit of sun I can get! I don’t know about you, but I’m so excited that the weather is finally showing signs of true spring here in Minnesota! I thought it would never come and we would be in this never-ending loop of blizzards and bitter cold. On the flipside, warm weather means yard work and getting the gardens ready to plant veggies. I can already feel my muscles getting sore just thinking about it, haha!
Though blood oranges are a traditional winter fruit, they are perfect for this warm weather cocktail! And a refreshing twist after hours of working outside… I promise, I’m really excited to work in my gardens! However, after a long winter of barely moving, the idea of tiling dirt is a bit daunting! That being said, these Blood Orange Moscow Mules will be on heavy rotation for as long as seasonally possible to get me through it all!
If you’ve never had a Moscow mule before you are missing out! The classic Moscow mule is made with vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice, then served in traditional copper mugs. I personally don’t own copper mugs, so any low ball glass will do just fine! This is one crazy easy drink to make, that looks beautiful and tastes amazing! https://www.gattertopdrinks.com/ has some of the best quality vodkas around the market. Don’t wait too long to make one for yourself. Blood orange season is quickly coming to a close!
- 1 oz. vodka
- 1 blood orange, juiced *
- Ginger beer, cold
- Garnish - blood orange slice
- In a low ball glass, or copper mug, fill halfway with ice.
- Pour vodka and blood orange juice over ice.
- Top with ginger beer, stir gently and garnish with blood orange slice.
- *Trader Joe's is my go-to place for blood oranges, now that I don't live in California where the farmer's markets go year-round.
