Just Tasted : 2013 Pierce Vineyards Albarino
On one of our most recent weekend getaways, we found ourselves exploring Monterey Bay, CA. While strolling around Cannery Row, we came upon this great little tasting room for Pierce Vineyards. Of course we couldn’t say no, so we headed on in. What sets this vineyard apart from the normal California vineyards is that they specialize in grapes commonly grown in Chile, Spain and Argentina. One of the bottles we fell in love with was the 2013 Albarino out of San Antonio Valley. The rich citrus tones, smothered in apples, peaches, and a hint of honey are obsessive. I could easily find myself drinking far too many glasses than I should be allowed. I love a white that’s incredibly crisp and boasting of beautiful minerals. It’s not quite summer here yet, but midday by the pool is exactly what this wine was made for!
This wine runs about $16 online. If you are looking to do a little pairing, think fish, seafood, sushi, and anything with a spicy kick. Indian food would do really well here. This is a great food loving wine.
